Clinical trial investigated the safety and efficacy of 6’-sialyllactose (6SL) in patients with GNE myopathy, a muscle disorder caused by GNE gene mutations. Results from the study showed that 6SL increased sialic acid levels and improved muscle function, particularly in higher doses. The high-dose group also demonstrated better outcomes in muscle MRI compared to the low-dose group. 6SL was generally well-tolerated with mild gastrointestinal discomfort, suggesting it may be a promising therapeutic option for GNE myopathy. †
